AFN National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak Congratulates Newly Acclaimed New Brunswick Regional Chief Joanna Bernard Thursday 10 October 2024 06:04 PM UTC+00 | Tags: press-release (October 10, 2024 – Unceded Algonquin Territory, Ottawa) – The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak offered congratulations to newly acclaimed New Brunswick Regional Chief Joanna Bernard, whose position was confirmed earlier this month after the nomination period ended. "I welcome Regional Chief Joanna Bernard back to the AFN Executive Committee," said National Chief Woodhouse Nepinak. "In her upcoming term of the next three years, I know that she will continue to accomplish many great things for the First Nations people of New Brunswick and beyond. It has been a pleasure working with her previously both as co-Regional Chiefs, in her capacity as Interim National Chief, and since my role began as National Chief. We share many priorities, including uplifting our First Nations children and families, protecting our women and girls and gender-diverse people, and pressing for the full implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
