(July 24, 2024 – Unceded Algonquin Territory, Ottawa) – Today, the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak extended congratulations to newly elected Manitoba Regional Chief Willie Moore.

"We would like to congratulate Regional Chief Willie Moore on this election and welcome him to the AFN Executive Committee," said National Chief Woodhouse Nepinak. "Regional Chief Willie Moore of Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation has a long history of leadership and we welcome his expertise and knowledge. We have much work ahead, particularly in advocating for the rights and well-being of First Nations children and families. I look forward to collaborating with Regional Chief Moore to advance our shared priorities.”

“We would also like to thank Chief Sheldon Kent of Black River First Nation for his role as acting AFN Manitoba Regional Chief and for his advocacy on behalf of Manitoba First Nations. Sheldon demonstrated tremendous dedication, and I appreciate his work and contributions to the AFN Executive Committee. I wish him all the best in the future.”
